Dr. Sunil H Patel

Board-certified nephrologist Sunil Patel, DO, specializes in acute and chronic kidney disease and general adult medicine in his position as the medical director of Advanced Medical and Kidney Institute in Apple Valley, California.
Dr. Patel takes a holistic and integrative approach to treating conditions like kidney injuries, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes. Dr. Patel is also dedicated to preventive care and provides resources to help patients reduce their risk factors for hypertension, vascular disorders, and other chronic diseases.


Dr. Patel remains involved in research and has been recognized multiple times for his work. He is the author of multiple published articles as well as presentation materials for national symposiums and annual meetings throughout the country.
In addition to his clinic work at Advanced Medical and Kidney Institute, Dr. Patel serves as the Medical Director of U.S. Renal Care in Victorville, California, and the Utilization Director at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, California. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of its Subspecialty Board on Nephrology.
After earning his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, Dr. Patel went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Hospital in Worcester. He did his fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City.
At Advanced Medical and Kidney Institute, Dr. Patel is passionate about treating adults with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and hypertension. He also provides comprehensive kidney care, including dialysis services, to enhance his patients’ quality of life.
When not working with his patients, Dr. Patel enjoys vacationing and spending time with his family and attending school events. He’s devoted to giving back to his community and is actively involved in organizing fundraisers to support people in need.
